Description

An attempt to bring out the charm of Tokamachi was made in 1994 through ar t. In year 2000, the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale was held by inviting artists from 32 countries producing 153 artworks. More than 150,000 people attended the art festival and since then it has been held once in every three years. In year 2018, the art festival attracted more than 500,000 visitors.
